The Legend of Santa Owl edition by Dvora Swickle Children eBooks

The Legend of Santa Owl, by Dvora Swickle has to be one of my favorite Christmas reads this season.
The book starts out with a wonderful poem. A squirrel named Norman with a handful of nuts is running to visit his friend Ollie Owl. He of course trips over something and it is a beautiful glittery ball. Ollie has no idea what the glittery ball is so he fly’s to local farm to find out. Norman takes the ball home. Ollie looks in the window and sees a tree with no root all glittered and twinkling all around. The Mr. and Mrs. pulled out a box with glittery balls to place on the tree. He hears a poem about placing on tree and it will bring gifts on Christmas Eve. Owl fly’s back to Norman’s house and informs him. Norman hangs the ball in his tree home and went to bed and dreams of goodies. Owl watches at window waiting for Santa. But Christmas is for humans no animals he learns. They laughed. Ollie left sad and a tear in his eye, then he heard a ho ho ho and a gift floats down, which he catches. Ollie took the gift to Norman’s house for him to open. After that night Christmas is for animals too.

As Yang (my 8year old daughter) and I snuggled into bed for our nightly story, we pulled out the and began reading The Legend of Santa Owl. She was instantly drawn in by the beautiful pictures and wonderful rhymes. Ollie the Owl teaches us the magic of friendship and shows us to what extent we will go to make our friends dreams comes true. A wonderful Christmas themed book for the young, and young at heart.

Norman is a little squirrel who finds a glistening ball and wonders what it is. When he takes his shiny ball to his friend Ollie the Owl, Ollie sets out to find out what it is that Norman has found. When Ollie visits a nearby farm he learns that Norman's ball will bring gifts when hung by a tree he flies home tell Norman all about it. Norman hangs the ball inside his tree and drifts off in hopes of gifts by his bed. When Ollie realizes that no one is coming he sets off to find out why and help his friends dreams come true, but will he be able to on a holiday meant for only humans?
This book was a great read. The imagery and imagination was darling. I liked the excitement in the squirrel when he found the Christmas ornament, it was really cute. The author has a good sense of writing skills.. I can't wait to read more of her children's books!
This is charming, a lovely read! Children and parents can share and fall in love with the characters... more please!
Love it. Definitely will be sharing this with my young grand daughters ages, 2, 2 & 3. Nicely illustrated and cute story.
The plot is smooth and the illustrations are adorable. The author has a knack for using animals in the story to give it a fun twist. She has also worked very hard to edit and correct any previous misspelled words and for this reason, I have returned to edit my review.
My 1 year old woke up during the night one night wanting to play. She was not going to go back to sleep. I grabbed my kindle and found I had this book so I read it to her she loved it. She sat there and listened and looked at all the pics. I would for sure tell all my friends about this wonderful book.

5 stars for sure.
Loved the colorful illustrations. A great story of friendship and how to help others. When the squirrel found the Christmas ornament, his excitement was so contagious. This story is a great one for kids of all ages. I recommend you get the paper version so that you can read it over and over to your kids and they can look at the pictures even when you are not reading it together. This is an all time favorite for my family.
